| tr_TR |
dc.description.abstract | Since dervish groups (Qalandaris, Haydaris, etc.) have been viewed as “heterodox Islam” and “popular religion,” their shamanistic nature and Central Asian origin have been emphasized, especially in Turkish academia. As a part of this trend, the love of Ahl-i Bayt and ghaza activities of Abdals (Qalandaris) in Anatolia and the Balkans have been mainly linked to Turkish Islam. Switching the common perspective, Qalandari dervishes in Egypt and North Africa will be analyzed in this article. Through Shaykh Qutb al-Iraqi al-Baghdadi (d. 1487)'s life, how the Qalandaris emerged and spread out in the Middle East and North Africa, and how they interacted with state and society will be examined. Also, how Qalandaris became an essential part of Middle Eastern social and religious history during the late Middle Ages will be explored. | en_US |
