Abstract: | Katı yakıcı yakıtın (propellant) yanmasıyla oluşan yüksek basınç ve sıcaklık altındaki iç balistik sistemlerinde bir çevrim boyunca meydana gelen olayların matematik modellenmesi bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. This thesis is concerned with mathematical modelling of burning of propellant and flow phenomena occured during an interior ballistic cycle in the systems under high pressure and high temperature. In the study, variations in main parameters of interior ballistic were determined, with special emphasis on the subsonic and supersonic flows in the system. In the mathematical modelling, it was assumed that the propellant grains burns uniformly over the surfaces and burning rate of the propellant is a function of pressure and burning surface area. The Noble-Abel equation of state was used for propellant gases. In the model, rotational and translational energy of the projectile, drag and frictional forces were taken into consideration, but gas leakage was neglected. Gas flows were assumed to be uniform and one dimensional, and heat losses and temperature distribution in the barrel were calculated by using unsteady one dimensional axisymmetric heat conduction equation. The muzzle flow modelling was also included in the study. The differential equations obtained in the model were solved numerically by using finite difference methods. The model was applied to various guns and the results were compared with their experimental alternatives and with those given by other researchers. Morever, the effects of some parameters and possible errors in the experimental input data on the results were also examined. |
