Abstract: Genetic variation of transferrin of Turkish hair goats was studied by starchgel electrophoresis. Three transferrin alleles and five transferrin phenotypes were observed. The observed frequencies of transferrin phenotypes were 72, 26, 86, 3 and 1 for TfAA, TfBB, TfAB, TfAC and TfBC respectively. Transferrin allele gene frequencies were 0.62_+0.025, 0.37_+0.025 and 0.01_+0.005 in TfA, TfB and TfC respectively. TFa and TfB alleles were Predominant and TfC allele was rare in native Turkish hair goats.
