The spectral distribution of multiply scattered gamma ray energy in water is determined by the Monte Carlo sampling technique in the energy range 0.5 - 1.6 MeV. It is found that the energy for which the scattered photon number is a maximum, is related to the source energy and this is in agreement with studies made by Minato for a point source in different media.en_US
